A Yearly Tradition? Storytellers

This past Friday and Saturday, East Jersey Olde Towne Village was holding it's yearly Halloween Story telling event. The events are free ..... you just have to pre-register.   We have been going for a few years now... so i guess it has now become an annual tradition.  The weather last night cooperated unlike last year when it was cold, and rainy.   This year it seemed the attendance was much lighter then in the past.  Maybe it was because we got there earlier than usual this year and had some time to enjoy the light refreshments of Hot or Cold apple cider and an assortment of cookies - chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar, coconut macaroons,  chocolate..... the assortment was abundant.  Stories of haunted houses, reincarnations,an undertaker that switched heads , and people who were thought to be dead that were buried alive, I have to admit I did jump a few times.

For those who don't know, East Jersey Olde Towne Village is a collection of buildings from revolutionary times and even prior that have been moved from their prior locations and positioned on park property to form a little town.   The buildings are now heated and have bright lights.  Collections of artifacts that have been found around the area when it was occupied by early settlers creates a mini museum of sorts.  Various types of events are held year round... My most favorite was the reciting of the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe (they must have raised him from the dead because this guy looked just like Poe's picture).    I have also learned the art of Philippine palm weaving and  Polish Pysanky egg decorating.   They have an up coming event in Indian fabric dying (I believe)   .
The best part, IT IS ALL FREE ! ! ! JUST SIGN UP.   There is not much to do these days that is free so I think I will begin to pay more attention to the events that are offered .  There is so much history in this area, areas that I have never explored, including many of the buildings on this property.

So with this upcoming season of pumpkins and harvests, I am thinking I may take the afternoon and think of what a Colonial mom would be doing this afternoon......I think I will bake an apple pie..... now where is that favorite recipe of mine ? ? ? ?
